PBL in the City is  a multi-day Project Based Learning conference hosted at United Federation of Teachers Building, in partnership with NYSCATE & PBLWorks. This event brings together educators, staff, administrators, and leaders who want to begin and advance their Project Based Learning practice and connect with a community of their peers

Multi-day Workshop
  • Day 1: Setting a Vision for PBL - During the first day, you will establish a vision for PBL as an equity-centered pedagogy that helps all learners thrive. You will build the foundation of a project grounded in your knowledge of your learners, your community, and the content and skills you teach.
  • Day 2: Developing Your Project - You will develop the story of your project and outline your plans for sustaining inquiry and supporting learners from start to finish.
  • Day 3: Bringing Your Project to Life - You will build on your plans by learning how to ensure successful outcomes for all learners through effective formative assessment. You will also gain strategies for project management that will support student agency and shared power in your classroom.
Why 3 consecutive days? It is hard to find time to think deeply about our teaching practice, but it is essential. Altering your approach to learning and instruction can be deep and challenging work that can be transformative to your practice. Three days creates the space for active, hands-on project planning, peer collaboration and feedback, and reflection on learning that leads to sustained change.
