The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) is a nonprofit professional organization with a worldwide membership of leaders and potential leaders in educational technology. We are dedicated to the improvement of education by assisting with the integration of technology into the curriculum. ISTE's role is leadership-we provide our members with information, networking opportunities, and guidance as they face the challenge of incorporating computers, the Internet, and other new technologies into their schools.
Home of the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) Project and the National Center for Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology (NCPT3), ISTE also represents and informs its membership regarding educational issues of national scope through ISTE-DC. We support a worldwide network of Affiliates and Special Interest Groups (SIGs), and we offer our members the latest information through our periodicals and journals.
An organization of great diversity, ISTE leads through presenting innovative educational-technology books and programs; conducting professional development workshops, forums, and symposia; and researching, evaluating, and disseminating findings regarding educational technology on an international level.
CoSN (the Consortium for School Networking) is the premier professional association for school system technology leaders. For nearly 25 years, CoSN has provided leaders with the management, community building, and advocacy tools they need to succeed. SETDA’s charge is to serve, support and represent the interests and needs of state education agency leaders with respect to the use of technology for teaching, learning, and school operations. There are many high-caliber, non-profit education organizations with similar priorities. It can be be advantageous for SETDA to establish and engage in strategic partnerships with those organizations and bolster our efforts to advance education through technology policy and practice.
