In honor of Jane Jamison, NYSCATE has established the Jane Jamison First-Time Attendee Educator Scholarship to expand access to the NYSCATE Annual Conference for educators who have never previously attended.
Jane was a visionary educator and one of the founders of NYSCATE. She remains the only recipient of NYSCATE’s Lifetime Achievement Award and was a dedicated mentor to countless women in instructional technology. A passionate advocate for the meaningful use of technology in education, Jane devoted 31 years to teaching mathematics and computer courses at Hornell High School before retiring in 1992.
Small in stature but fierce in spirit, Jane had a lifelong love of mathematics, technology, and teaching learners of all ages. Her commitment to service extended well beyond the classroom through her volunteer work with libraries, the United Way, and numerous community organizations. This scholarship honors Jane’s remarkable legacy by helping a new generation of educators experience the learning, inspiration, and professional connections of the NYSCATE Annual Conference.
The scholarship provides educators with an opportunity to participate in high-quality professional learning, connect with colleagues from across New York State, and explore innovative practices that support teaching, learning, leadership, and educational technology.

Two scholarships will be awarded: one to a practicing educator and one to a pre-service teacher.

The Scholarship Includes:

• Full conference Registation
• Hotel Accomodations
• Travel Reimbursement

Important Dates:

Application Opens August 1st and Closes October 1.

Review Period is from October 1- October 15

Applicants will be notified by October 16

Recipients must accept Scholarship by October 20

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be a first-time attendee of the NYSCATE Annual Conference
• Be currently employed in or directly supporting a New York State educational organization
• Serve in an educational role:
  • K-12 Classroom teacher
  • K-12 Library Media Specialist
  • K-12 Instructional Technology Specialist or coach
• Be available to attend the full conference or the minimum number of days established by NYSCATE
• Receive approval to attend from a supervisor or administrator, if required by the applicant’s organization
• Agree to complete the scholarship recipient expectations

*NYSCATE board members, scholarship reviewers, vendors, exhibitors, and individuals who have previously attended the NYSCATE Annual Conference are not eligible.

Scholarship Recipient Expectations

Selected recipients will be expected to:

• Attend the Fall 2026 NYSCATE Annual Conference
• Participate in conference sessions, activities, and networking opportunities
• Attend the Grants & Awards Reception
• Allow NYSCATE to use the recipient’s name, professional role, organization, photograph, and scholarship reflection for promotional purposes, unless the recipient requests an accommodation
• ​Notify NYSCATE promptly if circumstances prevent attendance

*Recipients who accept the scholarship but do not attend may be required to repay expenses that cannot be refunded or transferred.
