Designing for Wonder:
The Gemini Teacher Lab & Google Certification

4-Week Zoom Book Study (60 minutes each)
9:00am -10:00am
July 20, 27, August 3, 10

Design principles
  • Every week includes: Book connection (10–15 min) + Gemini lab (15–20 min) + Work time (20–25 min) + Share (5–10 min)
  • Participants build a small “portfolio” of artifacts that also serve as Gemini certification practice
After Week 4 (optional)
  • Open “Certification Lab” office hour (30 min) for final Q&A + support
What coaches do differently (embedded coach lens)
Each week, coaches leave with a coaching move:
  • Week 1: Learner Snapshot coaching questions
  • Week 2: “Smallest testable change” protocol
  • Week 3: Equity check for novelty + wonder
  • Week 4: Non-evaluative reflection protocol + share/scale routines

Week 1 (60 min) — Know Your Learners + Your Purpose
Framework focus: Step 1
Gemini focus: Foundations + guardrails (“scaffold, not shortcut”)
Deliverable by end of session: a Learner Snapshot + a purpose statement

Between sessions (10–20 min)
  • Use Gemini to generate:
    1. 3 likely misconceptions/stuck points for your topic
    2. 2 scaffold ideas (language/access/structure) aligned to your learners
Week 2 (60 min) — Identify a Small Opportunity for Change
Framework focus: Step 2
Gemini focus: Diagnose “stuck points” + plan a low-lift change
Deliverable by end of session: a small-change statement + evidence plan

Week 3 (60 min) — Design with Intentionality + Novelty (Plan the Pilot)
Framework focus: Step 3
Gemini focus: GEMS + prompts for novelty, choice, and wonder (without shortcuts)
Deliverable by end of session: a pilot-ready lesson plan + a reusable GEM prompt

Between sessions (15–25 min)
Participants review plan for pilot and identify data collection protocol(s) to collect:
  • 2 engagement look-fors (simple tally/notes)
  • 1 learning proof (exit ticket/work sample)
  • 1 student voice data point (“What helped you learn?”)

Week 4 (60 min) — Pilot Results + Reflect & Refine + Share & Scale
Framework focus: Steps 4–6 (pilot → reflect → share)
Gemini focus: Reflection synthesis + practice card for scaling
Deliverable by end of session: a refinement plan + share-ready practice card
