Join NYSCATE for a half day of free professional development featuring Nearpod & Flocabulary! During these virtual sessions, we’ll explore topics including:

● How to engage students with interactive lessons in a variety of in-person and virtual classroom contexts

● Supporting students through challenging times with

 SEL instruction

● Maintaining classroom culture and capturing student

 interest with academic hip-hop videos

 

Event Schedule

8:30 - 8:45: Welcome and Intros 

8:45 - 10:30: Planning, Editing, and Creating Lessons in Nearpod This session will start with a brief overview of the Nearpod platform. It will then focus on customizing digital lessons and personalizing instruction for your students. Finally, it will cover new features for Back to School. Bring teaching resources you already have and be prepared to make them come to life with rich media and interactive activities to engage your students! If you’re brand new to Nearpod, please create a free account and view this introductory training before the session. 

10:30 - 10:35: Break 

10:30 - 12:15: Supporting ELL and Exceptional Learners with Nearpod In this training you will learn how to leverage all Nearpod interactive activities and built in accommodations to meet the needs of your students. This session will cover fostering independence with the Microsoft Immersive Reader text-to-talk built in software. It will then go over the audio voice recording and Flipgrid video submissions to demonstrate choice in showing understanding and mastery. You'll understand how to modify assignments to meet personalized goals and track individual progress.
