The video game industry is the second largest entertainment industry and a ubiquitous to two full generations. Video gaming is in and of itself is a subset of media literacy and needs to be understood. Leaders need to look at deconstructing the concepts of motivation and engagement programed into video games, how that theory applies to teaching and learning, and explore the ways play can be incorporated into the learning environment to demonstrate an understanding of their target audience and the scope of media literacy.

Students have been involved in Web-oriented service-learning efforts in a variety of graduate-level courses, including Authoring for Educators, and Integrating Technology into the Curriculum. This study focused on what and how students have learned through the process of developing Web sites for community organizations. The study also addresses some of the issues and challenges that student Web designers frequently encounter during their project experiences.

This study examined the effects of mobility-oriented activities on student engagement, satisfaction, and learning in graduate-level educational technology courses. Between Fall 2007 and Fall 2009, various types of activities were used, including scavenger hunts, letterboxing, and museum field trips. Study findings reveal that mobility-oriented activities can help to promote student engagement, satisfaction, and learning.
